Son of Forest and City
I walked along a lonely road,
In silence, through the forest.
The green branches snapped at me,
Aggrieved at my intrusion.
The brown branches reached for me,
Embracing the intruder.
The forest was of two minds,
Loving and despising me.
It saw in me my father, its son,
Caring for his woodland home.
It saw in me my son, its enemy,
Tearing out this forest soon.
I wavered between two worlds,
Son of forest and city.
So I walked down the lonely road,
In silence through the forest.
And there you have it. So, all you multitudes of readers, tell me what you think of it. Don't hold back in your comments. If it sucked to you, then tell me. If you could have done it better, then tell me. If you have constructive criticism, then tell me that, too. Basically, whatever you think about this poem, positive or negative, be unafraid to share it with me.
