All's fair in love, war, and competitive eating!

Many of my friends often talk of leaving Mississippi. For most it is empty talk that will culminate in a few trips out of the state. I hope I don't follow that trend. Don't take this the wrong way, because I truly love Mississippi; I just happen to hate the weather and the backwardness. (The lack of an MLS team is also a contributing factor) I apologize if I offend anyone by saying that I don't think I really belong here, but it is how I feel. To ameliorate your harsh feelings, here is a haiku.

Seasonal
Fall comes too slowly,
Summer lingers on too long.
This is not my home.

p.s. The quote is applicable this time! Yay!

I'm sorry that this took so long, So I wrote this tiny song!

It has been quite a long time. Sorry about that, all you hundreds of people who rabidly follow this blog. To appease you, hear is a poem that I have just written. You are the first* to see this! Yay!

Ginger Love

Growing up third of seven

nothing to lose

Everything to prove.

Because gingers don’t have souls.

Growing up starving

for a look,

for a touch,

For some food.

Was every kid as selfish as I?

I looked for angels,
Any one of them would do,

I’d even try to

Make an angel of you
Because gingers don’t have souls.

Finally putting words to a page

Releases the rage

I've kept pent in a cage.

I know you don’t care.

I've got a handle on my feelings,

And I won’t be left reeling again.

I am impenetrable,

Because gingers do not have souls

I hope you liked it.

When Ethan discovers that he might be bi-polar! Hoorah!

I suppose that, as this is a blog, I have the right to be narcissistic and showcase my own works in words. Therefore, I will put here a poem I have written. If you are my friend on Facebook (why wouldn't you be?) you have probably already seen this. This is one of my favorite poems, if I do say so myself. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to my mind through poetry.

Son of Forest and City

I walked along a lonely road,
In silence, through the forest.
The green branches snapped at me,
Aggrieved at my intrusion.
The brown branches reached for me,
Embracing the intruder.
The forest was of two minds,
Loving and despising me.
It saw in me my father, its son,
Caring for his woodland home.
It saw in me my son, its enemy,
Tearing out this forest soon.
I wavered between two worlds,
Son of forest and city.
So I walked down the lonely road,
In silence through the forest.

And there you have it. So, all you multitudes of readers, tell me what you think of it. Don't hold back in your comments. If it sucked to you, then tell me. If you could have done it better, then tell me. If you have constructive criticism, then tell me that, too. Basically, whatever you think about this poem, positive or negative, be unafraid to share it with me.
